S/S 2011 #1 Trend: 1970's

I couldn't want summer to come quicker, I can't wait to bring out all my lovely floaty chiffon vintage dresses and get some sun to (very pale) face, in time for my June wedding! I am already on the lookout for some pretty dresses for my honeymoon so have been blitzing all my favourite online shops and vintage stores for some unique finds. So I thought I'd post about what's going to be huge this year, the 1970's trend. Bring the boho on!

Soften your hot-weather wardrobe this summer with a hint of 1970′s romance. This trend is going to be BIG this year, tipped to be the number one trend for 2011. It ruled on the catwalks and is set to rule the high street. For all of us vintage enthusiasts out there, chances are we already have some cute little original numbers in the closet (we always knew the 70's trend would be back in force!). Fashion tends to be dictated by what is going on in the world around us at that time. Following many tiring years of being involved in war and politics it only seems normal that a bohemian movement was bound to resurface at some point. So just as people did in the boho days of the seventies, it seems we are all looking for an excuse to escape and express ourselves. The seventies brought us many great looks, from sequins to jumpsuits, trouser suits to safari jackets. This season we see these looks revived with a modern twist. The designers gave us endless inspiration with brave colours, bold prints, amazing embroideries and floaty silhouettes aplenty. But who did it best? Here is my snippet of the best, most wearable looks from the shows. From leather to feathers, lacy to frilly, harem to bell bottom. The seventies did it all.

Anna Sui S/S 2011
Emilio Pucci S/S 2011
Marc Jacobs S/S 2011
Gucci S/S 2011
Isabel Marant S/S 2011

Cavalli takes boho to new levels this season with slashing, patchworking and  some fabulous animal prints. Usually known for his extravagant use of leopard print, this time he went all snakeskin and the results were stunning. There were seventies inspired bias cut chiffons, crochet, suede, and everything dazzled, adorned with sequins and crystals.
